
BELOIT (WKOW) - The 180th Medical Detachment left Thursday for the Washington for final training before deployment to Iraq.
Major Douglas Voegeli, who commands the Beloit-based Army Reserve unit, said about a dozen members give area preventive medicine support and consultation, which includes working to reduce effects of diseases.
Voegeli said the training at Fort Lewis will take about two weeks, and the unit will spend a maximum of 400 days in Iraq.
