UPDATE -- The Iowa County Sheriff's Department has identified the names of the individuals involved in the accident Saturday afternoon on Highway 14 as William F. Wegge, 73, of Arena and Bruce P. Laylan, 47, of Madison.
According to the release, a pick-up truck driven by Wegge was westbound on Highway 14 when it crossed the centerline and collided head on with an eastbound Chevy Suburban driven by Laylan. Wegge was taken to UW Hospital. Laylan was pronounced dead at the scene by a Med-Flight doctor.
TOWN OF ARENA -- A head-on collision between a pick-up truck and an SUV on Highway 14 in Iowa County killed one person, and injured another.
The crash, which occurred just before 2:30 p.m. Saturday, detoured traffic for about three and a half hours.
According to a news release from the Iowa County Sheriff's Office, the driver of the pick-up was traveling westbound just past County Highway K, when it crossed the centerline and struck an eastbound SUV head-on.
Both drivers were extricated from their vehicles. One driver was taken to UW Hospital. A UW Med Flight doctor declared the other driver dead at the scene.
Investigators said both were wearing seatbelts, and airbags did deploy. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor, according to the news release.
Names were not released, pending notification of family.

The accident happened around 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of County Highway K and Highway 14.
Iowa County officials would not tell us if there were any injuries due to the crash but did say they expect the area to be closed for some time.
Iowa County is working on posting detour routes.
