EAGLE RIVER (WKOW) -- If you can grow a 1,000 pound pumpkin, you might get to send it all the way to the White House.
One of Dan Bowles' pumpkins weights in between 900 and 1,000 pounds and is heading to Washington. Bowles is from Eagle River and also president of the Wisconsin Pumpkin Growers Club.
He's been growing large pumpkins competitively for four years.
Bowles says with good soil, sunlight and about 100 gallons of water a day, the pumpkins can grow 50 pounds in 24 hours.
A member of the club is driving the pumpkin to Washington D.C. on a trailer and it'll be carved during a trick or treat party. Bowles says he's also headed to Washington to attend the festivities.
