State lawmaker's brother faces forfeitures

MADISON (WKOW) -- A state lawmaker's brother is in hot water as his construction company faces $194,900 in forfeitures and legal fees for building without the proper permits.

Paul E. Olsen, brother of Sen. Luther Olsen (R-Ripon), is a managing partner in Olsen Brothers Enterprises LLP.

In June, a judge found the company guilty of building grain storage facilities in Boscobel and Belmont, but it did not possess state erosion permits.

The construction company's attorney has requested the forfeiture be brought down to $44,000, but because the company wasn't as culpable as prosecutors say.

The senator maintains he never had a role in the company.
