IOWA CITY, IOWA (WKOW) -- The Virgin Mary Grilled Cheese and Fish Stick Jesus are religious novelties of the past.
An online bidding war is losing steam for two potatoes with a cross-like image in their centers. One potato was found by an Iowa family and the other by a police detective in Ohio.
Marion, Iowa resident Jim Gross says the holy tater was found while his wife was peeling potatoes New Year's Eve. He's selling the spud on eBay starting at $2.
The other potato owner, Dennis Bort of Brunswick, Ohio, is selling his cross-shaped potato for $1,000. He said his potato was found on Christmas Day.
Both hadn't found any bidders yet, but collectors have paid big bucks for similar items with a blessed appearance. A partially eaten grilled cheese with the Virgin Mary's likeness sold for $28,000 on eBay.
