MILWAUKEE (AP) - A slow-moving winter storm is forcing Wisconsin schools and businesses to close, messing up roads and causing dozens of traffic accidents including two involving police squad cars.
Germantown police report that a semitrailer struck a four-wheel drive police vehicle, sending an officer to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. A second squad was struck by another vehicle as it was responding to the first accident.
In Milwaukee, police reported 106 traffic accidents through the day Tuesday, with 46 of those during the afternoon commute alone.
A winter storm warning is in effect for southeastern and east central Wisconsin through Wednesday morning. Other parts of the state are under a winter weather advisory.
