SHREVEPORT, LA (WKOW)--The last Hummer rolled off the assembly line Monday at Shreveport's General Motors assembly plant.
It was part of a special order of the SUV; it's headed to Avis to be a rental vehicle.
GM is discontinuing the Hummer brand after efforts to sell it to a Chinese heavy machine company earlier this year failed.
The Shreveport plant currently employs 900 people. Approximately 200 people will be out of work now that Hummer is no longer built there. That's expected to happen in July.
