MADISON (WKOW) -- Former Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge has endorsed Republican Scott Walker for Wisconsin's next governor.
Ridge made an appearance Wednesday at the Capitol, saying Walker has shown he knows how to limit government spending and produce job growth in the private sector during his time as Milwaukee County executive.
Ridge is a former governor himself (Pennsylvania) and said Walker has "a proven record of leadership."
He also said Walker's tenure in the state Assembly will give him the experience needed to work with other lawmakers to enact positive change.
Walker faces former U.S. Rep. Mark Neumann in September's Republican primary. The winner will run against Democratic candidate and current Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett in November's general election.
