DODGE COUNTY (WKOW) -- A former Fox Lake police chief charged with assaulting a seven-year-old girl more than two decades ago is now out of jail.

54-year-old Patrick Lynch appeared in Dodge County Court Thursday via video conference.  After the hearing, he posted $25,000 bond.

He was arrested Wednesday.

According to the criminal complaint, a 28-year-old woman says Lynch sexually assaulted her in 1989, when she was seven.

As conditions of his release, he'll be electronically monitored and can't have any unsupervised contact with anyone under age 18 other than family members.

Lynch will be back in court next week.

MADISON (WKOW) -- Sexual assault charges have been filed against a former City of Fox Lake police chief.

The Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ) has filed a criminal complaint in Dodge County Circuit Court against former City of Fox Lake Police Chief Patrick F. Lynch alleging sexual assault against a child under the age of 13 and stalking charges. The allegations are felony charges.

The charges are the result of an investigation by the Wisconsin Department of Justice's Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) and the Dodge County Sheriff's Department. "Investigation and prosecution of cases involving those who prey on children are a high priority of the Wisconsin Department of Justice," said Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen.

Patrick Lynch was arrested by Special Agents from DCI on Wednesday and is expected in court on Thursday.

Assistant Attorney General Dennis R. Krueger is representing the state as a special prosecutor for Dodge County.
