MILWAUKEE (WKOW) -- Chancellors at 13 University of Wisconsin System schools want lawmakers to change Gov. Scott Walker's plan to spin off UW-Madison.
The chancellors sent a letter Wednesday to state legislators, asking them to back a new plan that would give all the schools more flexibility, but would keep the flagship university as part of the UW System.
They say the current plan would hurt the entire UW System.
UW chancellor Biddy Martin has said Gov. Walker's plan would help the university compete against the nation's best schools.
The proposal is part of Walker's 2011-13 budget bill.
