ROCK CO. (WKOW) -- Rock County Sheriff's officials say alcohol was involved in an accident that injured three, including one seriously.
The Rock County Sheriff's Department says Maria Candelaria Victoria Zamora, 27, Beloit, was driving southbound on US-51 when she lost control of the vehicle. She crossed all four lanes of the highway, went off the east side of the roadway, rolled her vehicle multiple times, throwing both Zamora and one passenger, Raul Ibarra, 24, Beloit, from the vehicle. A third passenger, Maria Del Rosario Charma Cristo, 45, Beloit, was pinned inside the vehicle. The Rock County Sheriff's Department says Charma Cristo and Ibarra were released on Monday.
Zamora was flown to Rockford Memorial Hospital by a REACT team, and remains there with life threatening injuries. Ibarra and the third person in the vehicle were taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Rock County police are still investigating the incident, and believe speed and alcohol are contributing factors to the accident.
Zamora has been charged with a number of crimes, including operating a vehicle while intoxicated, reckless driving causing injury, and driving without a valid driver's license. Ibarra was cited for not wearing a seat belt.
