Madison (WKOW) -- from MABA: The Madison Area Builders Association (MABA) and Project Home, Inc. are pleased to announce the completion of its second annual Green Built Home Makeover.
Under the direction of volunteer Project Managers Abe Degnan (Degnan Design Builders, Inc.) and AnneMarie Dresen (AnneMarie Design, LLC), MABA members joined together for another significant philanthropic project.
This project was made possible by Presenting Supporter Madison Gas & Electric Co., along with a array of volunteers and donors.
The Green Built Home Makeover used green remodeling techniques to transform the home of the Thornell Timmer family, who live in Madison's Olbrich neighborhood.
The Timmers are a young family who have lead paint and air quality issues affecting their home.
"There are so many homes which need improvement and are wasting energy or harming the residents," said Project Manager Abe Degnan of Degnan Design Builders, Inc. "For middle-aged and older homes, lead paint is a common hazard. While we often focus on energy use, indoor air quality and the safety of the home are also important tenets of green remodeling," Degnan continued.
This mid-50s ranch home received a substantial green remodel including: lead remediation, all new windows, gutters and downspouts, soffit and fascia, concrete overlay flooring in the basement, patio and driveway replacement, HVAC repairs, new insulated doors, energy efficient appliances, a whole-house air cleaner, a Solatube, and more!
The unveiling ceremony will be held at 9 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 3 at the Thornell Timmer home, 134 Bradford Place in Madison.
An Open House for the public will follow from 3 until 5:30 p.m. that day. The Open House is a chance for members of the public to see first-hand the green products and practices used in the makeover.
Project Managers and green remodeling experts will be available to answer questions about the home.
MABA would like to thank its Presenting Supporter Madison, Gas & Electric Co., and Gold Supporters AnneMarie Design, LLC and Degnan Design Builders, Inc. for their commitment to the Green Built Home Makeover.
