MADISON (WKOW)--Madison's Public Safety Review Board voted unanimously Tuesday night to support a "dooring" ordinance.
The ordinance would allow police to issue citations to drivers who fail to check street traffic before opening their doors.
WKOW 27 News first reported on this last summer when Madison bicyclist Linda Willsey was hurt after crashing into a recently-opened car door on a busy downtown street.
She was fined for not keeping at least three feet between her bike and the parked cars. Willsey fought the fine and won.
This ordinance now goes before the Pedestrian Bicycle Motor Vehicle commission.
