FOND DU LAC, Wis. (AP) - State prosecutors are joining the investigation into the alleged embezzlement of more than $100,000 from the city of Fond du Lac.

Fond du Lac County District Attorney Dan Kaminsky tells The Reporter newspaper that he met with Assistant Attorney General Erik Peterson on Friday to discuss legal strategy.

Kaminsky says he expects North Fond du Lac Police Chief Bill Lamb to submit a formal referral of the investigation in about two weeks.

The probe is focused on three current employees of the Management Information Systems department, a former employee and at least two Wisconsin vendors

Kaminsky says it appears the suspects conspired to commit fraud through an ordering and invoicing scheme at least five years. The employees involved are on paid leave.
