MILWAUKEE (AP) - As you spring forward for daylight saving time this weekend, one Milwaukee group hopes you use the occasion to volunteer.
L. Maxwell McKissick is the founder of Serve 60. The group suggests when people move their clocks forward an hour in the spring and back in the fall, that they donate those 60 minutes by volunteering in their community.
He says if every American pitched in, communities would get more than 300 million hours of help each time.
Even though we're actually losing an hour in the spring, McKissick says that's a technicality. He says the main point is, everyone can spend at least two hours volunteering per year, and the daylight saving weekend is a good excuse to start.
Daylight saving time begins this year on Sunday.
