Wis. prison escape prevented

WAUPUN (WKOW) -- A prison escape at Waupun is stopped by quick thinking by prison officials and local police.

The Department of Corrections says it worked with Waupun police and the Dodge and Fond du Lac sheriff's departments to stop an escape planned by David Larsen.

Larsen is serving a life sentence for trying to kill his ex-wife. He's attacked and kidnapped Teri Jendusa Nicolai leaving her in a trash can in an unheated storage unit in freezing temperatures.

Jendusa Nicolai told The Journal Times a Racine County sheriff's investigator told her Larsen apparently tried to fake a medical emergency as part of his plot, but authorities were on to him.
