FITCHBURG (WKOW)-- You can never hear the happy birthday song too many times when you reach this kind of milestone.
Mary Krueger is the talk of McKee Apartments in Fitchburg.
Mary turned 100 on March 15th. She's "Someone You Should Know."
Her friends here have been celebrating for more than a week.
At 100, Mary is still sharp as a tack.
Over coffee and conversation, you'll hear Mary tell a story.
Mary reminisces a photo album filled with black and white pictures of days gone by.
Mary says she doesn't feel like 100, she feels much younger.
When you live 100 years, you've lived through a lot history.
What was life like in 1909?
William Howard Taft became the 27th President.
U.S. Automobile production reached 127,000, up from 63,000 the year before.
President Abraham Lincoln first appeared on the penny.
A loaf of bread cost just 5-cents.
"It's amazing to think that from 1909 all the things that have been developed and changed," says Mary. "I can remember the first plane that I missed seeing. I heard it go over our head. Planes going over had a certain magic about it, the sound."
There's also a certain magic about living to be a century.
And, who says you get grumpier with age.
Mary is all smiles!
As for tips to living to 100?
Mary says acceptance.
