MADISON (WKOW) -- The UW Hospital and Clinics has received one of the highest awards a healthcare organization can receive.
The American Nurses Credentialing Center awarded the hospital the Magnet Recognition status.
Only five percent of hospitals in the country have earned that designation.
The ANCC says the status demonstrates to patients and families that the hospital provides the highest level of care and helps recruit and retain the best nurses in the country.
Earlier this year, the UW Hospital was named the best academic medical center in the nation for nursing quality by the American Nurses Association.
