Safety Saturdays

MADISON (WKOW) -- There were fire trucks, police and emergency responders on Madison's Capitol Square, and they were there to spread a message.

Madison Fire Fighters performed an extraction in front of a large crowd Saturday afternoon.

It's all part of Safety Saturdays.

The event also featured interactive exhibits like CCR training and AAA's roll over simulator, which demonstrates what could happen when you don't wear a seatbelt.

"We like that public safety is the focus of the event. A lot of people come to the square for the farmers market this is a way for us to get much needed awareness," says Madison Fire Department Spokesperson Lori Wirth.

The event offered information about how to stay safe during fires or other emergencies.
