MADISON (WKOW) -- Three young boys are accused of trying to break into a sportswear shop on the city's west side earlier this month.
On June 9, just after 9:00 p.m., Madison Police were called to a burglary in progress at Blueprint Sports & Urban Wear on the 700 block of S. Gammon Rd.
Two men witnessed the crime and were able to nab one of the suspects, who turned out to be an eight-year-old boy.
The burglar told officers he and two older boys rode their bikes to the store and one of them, an 11-year-old, used a brick to smash out a window, which triggered an alarm.
The 11-year-old and another 13-year-old fled, but the younger boy stayed and entered the store. He told officers the oldest boy threatened to beat him up, if he did not steal a new pair of shoes.
A Madison EMS team was called to the scene to clean the boy up, because he ended up with numerous cuts from jagged glass.
Police arrested the eight-year-old for burglary and released him to his mother.
Officers caught up with the older suspects at their homes later; they both face charges of Party to a Crime of Burglary.
