Disaster aid for southern Wisconsin flooding

MADISONw (WKOW) -- The state is seeking disaster assistance for victims of flooding last month in Kenosha and Racine counties.

Thunderstorms that moved through June 18 and 19 dumped more than five inches of rain in parts of southeastern Wisconsin.

Flash flooding and sewer backups were reported in both counties. In Kenosha County, more than 1,200 homes reported flood damage, and Racine County reported damage to hundreds of homes.

Gov. Jim Doyle said the request Thursday goes to the U.S. Small Business Administration, and if approved, it will provide low-interest loans to individuals and businesses that had damage.
