New York (WKOW) -- Want to know the news? You're likely to get it much faster through web sites of traditional news operations than anywhere else.
A new study published in the New York Times finds websites for newspapers and broadcast news typically report on breaking news about 2.5 hours before blogs do.
The researchers studied the news cycle from August through October last year using powerful computers.
But one thing that didn't really come into play last fall was Twitter, which has quickly become an influential way of spreading news.
