MADISON (WKOW) -- Green Bay limestone processing company Great Lakes Calcium Corp. has agreed to pay the state $280,000 to settle a lawsuit claiming it violated air pollution laws.
The judgment announced Tuesday by the Wisconsin attorney general's office resolves charges that Great Lakes Calcium violated state air pollution laws and air permit requirements from 2005 to February 2008.
The company's limestone processing facility is on the west shoreline of the Fox River near the bay of Green Bay.
The settlement includes $180,000 in forfeitures and fines. The company is also paying $100,000 to install and operate broken bag detectors to protect against excessive emissions.
