Dane County inmate AWOL after ditching monitoring bracelet

MADISON (WKOW) -- A Dane County inmate has been declared AWOL after leaving to attend an employment meeting and never coming back.

32-year-old Jennifer L. Moritz is serving a nine-month probation sentence with Huber for Forgery.

Mortiz, who was participating in the Dane County Sheriff's Office Custody Alternative Monitoring Program, was approved to attend a meeting at Madison Urban Ministries Tuesday afternoon.

About half hour later, deputies received an alert indicating Moritz' electronic monitoring bracelet had been tampered with. They immediately responded to her last known location at the corner of Bedford and West Washington where they found her bracelet in a storm drain.

Moritz is a white woman, 5'4, 180 lbs., with brown hair and green eyes. She was last seen wearing blue jeans, a pink tank top, a red "hoodie" sweatshirt, and tan sandals. Moritz may have ties to the Pheasant Ridge Trail area.

Anyone with information on Mortiz' whereabouts is asked to contact Dane County Communications at (608) 255-2345.
