MADISON (WKOW) -- A fundraiser for Democratic lawmakers in the Wisconsin Assembly canceled last month amid criticism over its timing during budget debate has been rescheduled for Monday.
Democratic Assembly leaders initially defended the $1,000-a-head golf outing saying it didn't violate a new rule they passed forbidding fundraising by individual lawmakers during budget debate. The fundraiser was organized by the Assembly Democratic Campaign Committee.
After the event drew criticism, the event was canceled. The budget was signed into law on June 29. Now, three weeks later, the golf outing is back on at the Wilderness Resort in Wisconsin Dells.
