SAUK CITY (WKOW) -- One of the largest fundraisers in our area for the Muscular Dystrophy Association took place along the highways of Sauk and Dane counties.
It was the annual MDA Freedom Ride, sponsored by the Sauk Prairie Harley Davidson.
About 1,400 people registered for Saturday's. They rode nearly 90 miles roundtrip to Black Earth and back.
People like 10-year-old Annie Heathcote from Mazomanie who has the condition were there cheering on the riders. "I'm so happy that people raise money from MDA, and I wanted to thank them," she said.
"It puts a face to it, and it swells your heart and puts a tear to your eye and makes you say 'oh gosh, that's what I'm riding for," said Brenda Dickinson, a motorcyclist from Enid, Oklahoma.
More events and fundraising opportunities are took place in Sauk City Saturday afternoon and evening. No word yet on a total raised.
WKOW 27 is a proud sponsor of the MDA, including the annual telethon on Labor Day.
