LEXINGTON, KY (WKOW) - A newborn baby is in critical condition after a dog pulled him from his crib.
The child, Alexander Smith, is just a few days old.
Deputies say Alexander's parents put him down for a nap Monday afternoon. When they looked outside later, they saw their dog was outside and had Alexander in his mouth.
The boy's father ran outside and chased the dog into a wooded area around the family's home near Lexington. After about ten minutes, the father was able to recover his son.
The newborn was taken to the University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington with multiple punctures and bruises.
The dog has been quarantined by local animal control workers. The 4-year-old dog is a mixed-breed known as a Native American Indian Dog.
So far, no charges have been filed.
