NEW YORK (WKOW) -- A newly-released media study says HBO leads among television networks for depicting gay characters in its programming.
According to the study by the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, or GLAAD, 10 of HBO's 14 original series last season included content that reflected the lives of gay, bisexual and transgender people.
ABC received top ranking among the five major broadcast networks, thanks to series like "Desperate Housewives," Brothers and Sisters" and "Grey's Anatomy."
The GLAAD study included all 2008-2009 prime-time programming for all five broadcast networks as well as 10 cable networks.
