MADISON (WKOW) -- A man wanted in Waterloo, IA, was arrested in Madison Wednesday night.
Tavaras Montgomery was arrested by the Badgerland Fugitive Apprehension Squad. He was wanted in Iowa on willful injury, intimidation with a dangerous weapon, and felon in possession of a firearm charges.
On July 20, 2009, police in Waterloo, IA, responded to a shooting incident. Officers found a 33 year-old man shot in the abdomen. Montgomery was identified as a suspect in that case.
Iowa investigators discovered information that Montgomery could be in the Madison area and that information was immediately passed along to the Badgerland Fugitive Apprehension Squad. Task force officers were then led to the Goodwill store where the suspect was believed to be. Montgomery was arrested as he left the store. Two other people were arrested with Montgomery. Doynis Bumgarner and Curisse Smith were wanted on un-related charges.
The Badgerland Fugitive Apprehension Squad is a multi-jurisdictional task force made up of officers from the Madison Office of the U.S. Marshals Service, Dane County Sheriffs Department, City of Madison Police Department, Wisconsin Department of Corrections-Division of Probation and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.
