UW Professor takes job with FDA

MADISON (WKOW) -- A University of Wisconsin-Madison professor is heading to Washington to take a job at the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Alta Charo will be a senior adviser in the Office of Commissioner.  She starts August 30.

Charo is a national expert in bioethics.  She worked on President Obama's FDA transition team, and was a member of President Clinton's administration, too.

The appointment is for one year, and she will remain a UW employee during that time.
