ST. CROIX COUNTY, WI (WKOW) -- At least three tornadoes were reported in western Wisconsin on Wednesday.
The National Weather Service says law enforcement officers reported a twister at about 4 p.m. It was one mile outside the small St. Croix County town of Emerald. The other two were reported a few minutes later in and around Forest, which is also in St. Croix County.
The weather service issued tornado warnings throughout the afternoon and early evening for several western Wisconsin counties. The weather service issues warnings when strong rotations are detected in storms.
The same weather system did damage near downtown Minneapolis earlier in the day, knocking down trees and damaging property.
