WASHINGTON (WKOW) -- The Associated Press has learned that the Obama administration plans to shut down the wildly popular Cash for Clunkers program by end of business Monday.
Two congressional officials familiar with the plan say the Transportation Department will wind down the program that allows drivers to trade in older cars for newer, more fuel-efficient models.
The administration says they needed to put a halt to the program to avoid surpassing the $3 billion funding level.
