Fox Valley projects receive $284 million in stimulus money
FOX VALLEY (WKOW) -- The national economic stimulus package has spurred nearly 300 projects in the Fox Valley region, totaling $284 million of federal stimulus funding. Projects include child nutrition programs, stormwater detention ponds and transportation.
The state of Wisconsin has qualified to receive $7.7 billion in stimulus funds.
Still, the state's recovery director Chris Patton says the stimulus act is a two-year plan, and the effects of the money will not be immediate.
The largest amount of the area's stimulus funds will go toward schools in the area. Right now that figure is around $117 million, or 41 percent.
