MADISON (WKOW) -- A record number of volunteers came together all across Dane County Tuesday to take part in the 17th annual United Way Days of Caring.
The main project will be helping to install 13 interactive born learning trails in the area parks.
Those give parents a new, interactive way to prepare their children for kindergarten.
Organizers say the event shows United Way's dedication in ensuring that children are cared for and have fun as they prepare for school.
"It's a real physical demonstration of the power of the people, the power and the ability to volunteer and make a difference in peoples lives," said Mike Victorson, CEO of M3 Insurance. "When you've got 2,800 people going out throughout the community and doing hands-on service projects and caring about people -- it makes an impact."
Thirteen local companies have come together with United Way to offer their support for this event.
