Department of Corrections workers to furlough Friday
MADISON (WKOW) -- State Department of Corrections workers will take the first of 16 required furlough days this Friday.
The agency says most services to the general public will be unavailable that day. People should call ahead if they're planning to make a visit to a corrections office or institution. State prisons will reduce staffing to holiday levels.
Gov. Jim Doyle has ordered all state workers to take 16 days furlough before July 1, 2011 to offset the state's financial problems.
