Drunken driver arrested after close call with mounted officers
MADISON (WKOW) -- Madison Police arrested a woman early Sunday morning for alleged drunk driving, after she nearly ran into a pair of mounted officers downtown.
The two officers were on routine patrol in the downtown area when a suspected drunken driver nearly hit them.
The officers and their horses were in full reflective gear, in a crosswalk at the corner of S. Blair Street and E. Main Street when the suspect accelerated toward them.
One officer yelled at the driver to stop and noticed she was gripping the wheel while her head bobbed up and down slightly.
The mounted officer took down the license place and police arrested her a short time later at her home, for Operating a Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated, Prohibited Alcohol Concentration, and Failure to Yield to a Pedestrian in a Crosswalk.
