Diamond ring worth nearly $7,000 stolen from Madison store

MADISON (WKOW) -- Madison Police are looking for three suspects after a ring worth $6,975 was stolen from the Diamond Center on South Gammon Road.

Employees at the Diamond Center discovered the ring was missing after doing inventory on September 10.  Surveillance video shows a man grabbed the ring from a display case while two accomplices created a diversion.

According to a police report, a young man claimed to be looking for an engagement ring for his fiancee. An employee took rings out of a case to show him. At one point, the man tried to bite a ring and the employee asked him to not do that. It was around this time that the surveillance video shows another man reaching into the back of the open case.

The three suspects are described as:

Male, black, 5'6", early 20's, 150 lbs., pitted face, wearing a white hat, dark blue or black plaid button-up shirt, blue jeans, and white tennis shoes.

Female, black, later 20's, 5'6", 175 lbs., long black hair, wearing a black baseball cap, cream jacked tied around waist, cream pants, tan shoes, and carrying a big orange bag.

Male, black, 30's, 6'00", 190 lbs., wearing a black baseball cap with a White Sox logo, black pullover, dark jeans, black shoes, and carrying a black jacket.
