New evidence found in case of stranger sex assault

MADISON (WKOW) -- Madison Police say they have new evidence in the case of a woman who was sexually assaulted in August, thanks to an observant citizen.

The tipster called police on Tuesday after finding a pair of blue jeans near the 500 block of D'Onofrio Drive, and making the possible connection between them and the sexual assault investigation.

Police, including officers, K9 units and horses, spent two days searching the area where the jeans were recovered and also turned up a blouse they believe belongs to the victim.

The victim's purse and cell phone are still being sought. The purse is described as black in color with a short handle and a silver-plated "PRADA" logo. The cell phone is a red Samsung, with a texting keyboard.

Police ask if you find these items, do not touch them; instead, call Madison Area Crime Stoppers  at (608) 266-6014 or text the keyword DANE along with a message of up to 160 characters, to CRIMES (274637).
