Priceless heirloom quilt stolen from downtown Madison porch
MADISON (WKOW) -- A Madison woman reported to police that someone stole a quit that has "immense sentimental family value." Police are now asking people to be on the lookout.
The 33-year-old woman left the quilt to air dry on her West Brittingham Place porch around 10 p.m. September 7. The next morning, it was gone.
The quilt is about 15 pounds in weight. It is made partly of relative's jeans, one of whom is now dead. There are also patches from family vacations to state and national parks stiched on the heirloom.
The backing contains a white and orange print sheet with butterflies on it.
The owner said she is desperate to recover the quilt. She reported it missing through the department's Self Reporting Unit.
Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Madison Police Department's South District at 266-5938, or the Officer In Charge at 266-4418.
