MADISON (WKOW) -- A homeowner's quick thinking lead to the arrest of three men trying to break-in to her home over the weekend.
On the morning of September 18th, Police say a 65-year-old woman saw three young men walking on the sidewalk near her in home in the 4700 block of Onyx Lane. She told police one of the men came to the door and rang the doorbell three times. When she didn't respond, she noticed the man go to the back of her home and try to come in through a back door. She says when the man realized that door was locked, he went to a window, removed the screen and opened it about three inches. A lock on the window prevented it from being opened any more.
She says as one man was trying to get inside, two other men stood in front of her house, acting as lookouts. Police say the whole time this was taking place, she was on the phone with 911. Madison Police arrived to the burglary in progress and arrested all three suspects.
17-year-old Robbery Lejames Avery of Madison was arrested for Attempted Residential Burglary and Possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
19-year-old David Renard Alexander of Madison was arrested for Party To a Crime of Attempted Residential Burglary.
A 16-year-old male from Madison was also arrested for Party To a Crime of Attempted Residential Burglary.
