Former UW-Madison student arrested for attempted child sex crime
MADISON (WKOW) -- Madison Police arrest a former UW-Madison student for allegedly trying to entice a 15-year old girl for sex at Elver Park.
Authorities say an undercover officer signed on to a chat room, posing as a 15-year old girl. Police say between September 2 and September 15, 2009, 23-year old Anthony Vanderscheuren engaged in sexually explicit conversations with the girl, and arranged to meet her at Elver Park in Madison on Thursday, September 17, 2009 at 11:30 "to do physical things".
Officers approached Vanderscheuren at the park and asked if intended to date the girl or just have sex and he replied, "just sex".
Vandersheuren is facing a charge of Use of a Computer to Facilitate a Child Sex Crime. He faces a maximum penalty of $100,000 or 40 years in prison.
