Plover man sentence to 40 years for producing child pornography

MADISON (WKOW) -- A Plover man will spend 40 years in prison for production of child pornography.

According to the U.S. Attorney's office, Plover Police executed a search warrant at the home of 45 year old Alfred T. Shippy on September 28, 2008.   Exactly one year later, Shippy was sentenced in Federal Court.

Plover Police launched an investigation based on a tip that Shippy was sexually abusing and videotaping the sexual abuse of a 10 year old girl.  At the time, he was on parole for a 2001 conviction of possessing child porn.  During the search, officers found evidence of the allegations.

Shippy pleaded guilty on July 30, 2009.

At sentencing, Judge Barbara Crabb said she had no confidence Shippy could ever change his behavior.  The Judge also said the defendant has a clear ability to manipulate others to get what he wants, which makes him a very dangerous person.

Following the 40 years in prison, Shippy will be on Supervised Release for the remainder of his life.

Shippy also faces additional charges in Portage County.
