Former swim coach pleads guilty to sex charges

MILWAUKEE (WKOW) -- A former swimming coach at West Allis High School accused of assaulting boys has pleaded no contest to two counts of second-degree sexual assault of a child.

Three counts of child enticement were dismissed Monday in the case against 62-year-old Daniel Acker.

Acker was arrested in March while coaching youth swimmers at Frank Lloyd Middle school. Earlier that day, a man told police Acker had sexually assaulted him in the early 1970s.

Greenfield police called it the largest sexual assault investigation in department history.

Investigators claimed Acker molested dozens of boys over a 40-year period, but only filed five charges because the statute of limitations had run on other alleged assaults.

Acker is scheduled to be sentenced in January.
