Bus owner in court Thursday for elaborate, cross-state drug deals
MADISON (WKOW) -- The story sounds like the plot to a movie: tour buses loaded with drugs and a ringleader who rebuilds his identity, face, fingerprints, and all.
But what might sound like a blockbuster hit is very real to the bus company owner, who faces a day in a federal court in Milwaukee on Thursday.
Federal prosecutors say James Washington, Jr's Chicago tour buses were used by Adarus Mazio Black to move millions of dollars and hundreds of pounds of marijuana from Detroit to Arizona and back. Wisconsin agents blew up the operation in 2007 by following the buses and recovering $2.5 million.
Black fled Detroit and visited a plastic surgeon in Mexico who changed his face and wiped out his fingerprints. Federal agents caught up with Black later in 2007 in California.
Black is set to be sentenced in November in Detroit.
