GREEN BAY (WKOW) -- An inmate in the Brown County jail was formally charged with the death of a fellow inmate by providing the drug sample that killed him.
Dominic Sangraw, 19, of Green Bay was arrested September 18 for outstanding warrants. A few days later, prosecutors allege he gave James L. Brown, 21, one eighth of an ounce of crack cocaine.
According to court records, Brown swallowed the drug as officers began searching his cell. Brown had a seizure and cardiac arrest. Despite being taken to the hospital, he eventually died.
Sangraw was charged Friday with reckless homicide. The charge carries a maximum penalty of 40 years in prison.
Brown was in jail for marijuana possession.
Online court records did not list an attorney for Sangraw on Friday afternoon.
