MADISON (WKOW) -- Dane County Sheriff's Department authorities nabbed 13 drivers for alleged OWI over the weekend.
From Friday through Sunday, deputies responded to two crashes and chased a third vehicle, all involving alleged drunken drivers.
Deputies say Saturday morning around 2:25 a.m., 29-year-old Jeffrey R. Bain ran a stop sign on Fish Hatchery Rd. in the Town of Oregon and ended up in a field. His passenger was injured in the crash and Bain was charged with OWI - Causing Injury.
Rescue crews had to extract Bain from the vehicle due to the amount of damage to the vehicle's front end.
Around the same time on Saturday morning, deputies responded to another call, this time of a man and a woman arguing outside a residence in the Town of Blooming Grove. When the deputy arrived, he came across a man driving away from the scene.
When the man finally stopped, he tried to flee on foot but the deputy tracked him down. Brian E. Loring, 25 of Waunakee, was found with three knives and a metal hatchet in the vehicle. He was arrested for 4th Offense OWI, Eluding, Resisting and Carrying a Concealed Weapon.
A third driver struck and damaged an electronic speed board placed at County Highway G and Davis Street in Mt. Vernon. According to authorities, the 58-year-old drunken driver fled the scene, but deputies were able to track him down and he eventually admitted to hitting the sign. He was arrested for 1st offense OWI, Hit and Run and Failure to Notify Police of an Accident.
