WALWORTH (WKOW) -- Walworth Schools are closed Tuesday and will stay closed until next Monday, due to what district officials call "widespread illness resulting in high absenteeism among students and staff."
Administrator Pam Knorr says Walworth Elementary and Walworth Middle School will re-open Monday, October 26.
Knorr told 27 News, "On Monday, our district had 170 students who started the day ill or who were sent home due to illness. We also had four teachers and three support staff members ill."
Administrator Knorr added that district officials made the decision to close in collaboration with Walworth County Health Officer Pat Grove. Knorr says Grove networked with the DPI, the Wisconsin Division of Health, as well as Walworth's Medical Advisor.
