H1N1 vaccine to reach 150 million doses by December
WASHINGTON (WKOW) -- Government health officials say they hope to have 50 million doses of H1N1 influenza vaccine available to Americans by mid-November, and 150 million in December.
Health and Human Services officials said Wednesday doses have been arriving more slowly than expected, but by the end of November, they hope to be "pretty well back on track."
According to HHS assistant secretary of preparedness Dr. Nicole Lurie, many manufacturers did not notify the government until Columbus Day that they could not provide as many doses as planned for this month, thinking some of their initial hurdles would be solved faster than they were in reality.
