COLUMBIA COUNTY (WKOW) -- Officials with the Columbia County Health Department are reporting a shortage of the H1N1 vaccine.
According to a Columbia County Health employee, their weekly orders of the vaccine have decreased, but so have the number of dosages they get.
On September 30th, they ordered 100 doses of the nasal mist. They got all 100 of those doses.
On October 8th, however, they ordered 11,000 inactivate vaccines and 1,000 live vaccines but only received 1,100 of the shots and 500 of the nasal mists.
The last two orders on October 14th and 21st yielded no return in dosages, but on the 14th they ordered 12,000 injections and 10,000 nasal mists and on the 21st they ordered 5,000 injections 3,000 nasal mists.
Health officials in Columbia County say they need to make weekly orders every week in order to get any of the vaccine; the orders are not back logged.
