Jackie Millar: Ultimate forgiveness

MADISON (WKOW)-- 14 years ago Wednesday, a Madison woman's life changed forever.

She survived being shot in the head. Despite living with daily challenges and 7 bullet fragments still lodged in her head, Jackie Millar forgave the two men who shot her.

She calls Craig Sussek, the man who pulled the trigger, a friend and even visits him in prison.

Craig is serving an 80 year prison sentence.

His first chance at parole comes up in 2015.

But Jackie promised her son she will not be there to speak on Craig's behalf.

"After all, he (Jackie's son) said I have to serve the rest of my prison time, they should have to serve the rest of their life too," said Jackie.

"I would never ask Jackie to do that," said Craig. "My family, some of my family, thinks that should be the case, but I refuse to do that."

Craig's co-defendant, Josh Briggs, is serving a 70 year sentence.

Coming up Wednesday, in a story you'll only see on 27 News at 10, Jackie is on a mission to reach today's teens, talking about choices, love, and forgiveness.
